Work-Life Balance
I've long felt that the so-called 'balance' between work and life (often discussed as though we leave our 'lives' at the door when we enter the workplace) is still weighted - and increasingly weighted - excessively on the side of work. These articles explore aspects of this situation.

It took me over 20 years of my career to work out what I wanted to do when I grew up. I feel strongly for school graduates who feel anxious about where their careers might head, and even more anxiously for those who, for all sorts of reasons, spend many years trapped in a career they don't enjoy. Through these articles I'm interested in how we steer our careers and how those starting out might learn from those of us a few years on.

Sociologists will tell you that 'society' encompasses those aspects of our lives which we encounter and manage collectively. These articles, then, have a broader perspective than the 'Life' articles.

For ten years I was a manager and for another ten years plus I worked with all sorts of managers in all sorts of positions and industries. These articles were written with a view to sharing some of the thingss I've learnt along the way.
