Rather than asking simple poll questions, I ask that you contribute a sentence or two (or more if you prefer) in response to the general hypotheses put below.

Experts Agree... or do they?

It seems to me that we are becoming increasingly reliant on experts to guide us through our lives. Whether for decision making (finance, buying a car, etc.), problem solving (weight loss, parenting, etc.), making ourselves more 'rounded' (cooking, gardening, etc.) or just keeping us informed (political commentary, sports analysis), we readily turn to experts for the last word.

But what is an expert really? When is an expert's opinion more valuable than a non-experts, and vice versa? And, when experts disagree (as they often seem to on climate change), how are we meant to decide who's right?
