Current Research E-mail

This page gives you the chance to contribute to my research. I'm very interested in your views and experiences on the topics I'm currently researching. Rather than asking simple poll questions, I ask that you contribute a sentence or two (or more if you prefer) in response to the general hypotheses put below.

Responses will not be displayed publicly - they will be simply be used by me to inform the direction of my enquiries. Feel free to contribute an experience, an opinion, something you think I should read, etc. I ask for your email address only so that I can check in with you should I wish to quote you, and so that I can inform you once any relevant articles are published.

Thanks for your input.

Experts Agree... or do they?

It seems to me that we are becoming increasingly reliant on experts to guide us through our lives. Whether for decision making (finance, buying a car, etc.), problem solving (weight loss, parenting, etc.), making ourselves more 'rounded' (cooking, gardening, etc.) or just keeping us informed (political commentary, sports analysis), we readily turn to experts for the last word.

But what is an expert really? When is an expert's opinion more valuable than a non-experts, and vice versa? And, when experts disagree (as they often seem to on climate change), how are we meant to decide who's right?

If you have something to share on this topic - an experience or opinion, something I should read or anything else meaningful, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . I would value your views.
